During the Six-Day War in 1967, fourteen merchant ships from eight nations - Killara and Nippon from Sweden, Agapenor, Melampus, Port Invercargill and Scottish Star from Great Britain, Munsterland and Nordwind from Germany, Boleslaw Bierut and Djakarta from Poland, African Glen from USA, Sindh from France, Vasil Levsky from Bulgaria and Lednice from Czechoslovakia - called the Yellow Fleet, were trapped on the Great Bitter Lake in the Suez Canal. The ships stayed there for eight years, to 1975. Seafarers established the Great Bitter Lake Association (GBLA) to pool resources, organize activities…and issued stamps.

Much has already been written about the GBLA. Readers still have a problem to find out which information is true and which false. This book offers answers, a wealth of pictures, documents and stamps on 336 large pages. More details can be seen at valdpete.blogspot.com/p/great-bitter-lake-association-catalogue.html . It contains chapters for the general public, ships enthusiasts, GBLA members and, naturally, collectors. Shown in colour, identified and valued are more than 2,000 stamps, sheets, covers, cachets and other collectibles.

A special section is dedicated to imitations, often purchased by unaware buyers as GBLA stamps. Avoiding them, the book pays off.

The first GBLA stamps, sheets, stationery cards and other collectibles were produced by the Master of the Czechoslovak ship Lednice, so a chapter is dedicated to MS Lednice.

If you have any questions, you are welcome to consult me at https://valdpete.blogspot.com in English, French, Spanish, German, Russian, Czech and/or Slovak. Naturally, the book is again available to swap for GBLA items.

If you have any GBLA items, I would like to hear from you.
