A Chinese white porcelain (blanc de Chine) box and cover. Shallow and circular, the rounded sides with fluting rise to an upright rim accommodating a slightly domed cover, the top moulded with a peony which grows by a rock.
This type of box had been in production at Dehua, notably for export to south-east Asia, since the Song period (960–1279).
This cover box dates to 17th century Ming period in China.
Measure 6 cm diameter and 3 cm high.
Condition: with repair and chip to the cover.
