A rare blue and white porcelain Chinese 'Lions' bowl, Ming dynasty, 16th / 17th century, most probably Wanli period (1572-1620).
Finely potted with round walls rising from a short tapering foot, painted in rich cobalt-blue tones around the exterior with three lions amidst floral scrolls; the base with an underglaze-blue four-character mark, the interior with a medallion with flowers within a blue circle and double blue line under the top-rim.
Dimensions: diameter - 17,6 cm, height - 8,2 cm.
Weight - 474 g.

Conditions report: wear and craquelure to the glaze (possible wreck founding). Three stabilized hairlines to the base: two around the foot-rim, one through the base. Fritting to the top-rim. Minor firing faults. UV and strong white light tested.
