Los conciertos No Nukes de Nueva York de 1979 se organizaron como un beneficio para apoyar fuentes de energía más seguras y el álbum resultante fue un éxito de ventas millonarias. a estado agotado desde hace mucho tiempo, durante años uno de los títulos más solicitados .
No Nukes contiene versiones clásicas en vivo de las canciones emblemáticas del elenco estelar: "Stay" de Jackson Browne, "Takin' It to the Streets" de los Doobie Bros., "Devil in a Blue Dress" de Bruce Springsteen y "Mockingbird" de James Taylor y Carly Simon.
Está genial. Son dos discos grabados en directo de un concierto del año 79 en contra de las centrales nucleares en el que participaron casi todos los artistas activistas sociales de la época (algunos como Bob Dylan o Neil Young no aparecen pero participaron, pues hay canciones suyas cantadas por James Taylor o Nicolette Larson)
La mejor actuación en directo de los grandes de los 70. Después de la casi fusión en Three Mile Island, un grupo de músicos se unió para hacer una declaración y crear conciencia sobre la cuestionable seguridad de la energía nuclear. Si bien las cualidades de los músicos individuales son reconocibles, las sinergias de combinarlos en papeles secundarios y compartir pistas produjeron algunas melodías increíbles, crudas pero hermosas.
Los artistas aparecen en la portada del álbum, pero no en el hecho de que actuaron juntos durante los espectáculos para producir una serie de nuevos sabores.
La canción "Power", seguida de "The Times They Are A Changin'" son notables. Un diamante en bruto, las canciones salen del corazón y las voces son una. En "Power" ¡James Taylor, Carly Simon, John Hall y Doobie Brothers realmente brillan! Esa melodía por sí sola vale el precio del álbum. James Taylor, Carly Simon, John Hall y Graham Nash interpretan una cruda pero clásica "Times They Are A Changin'".
