EC´s Blues Tour of 1994 began at the Montreal Forum (Montreal,Quebec) on October 3 and finished at the Irving Plaza in New Yorkon November 28, which means that the Fillmore shows took place inthe later part of the tour. This dvd was recorded during the firstof three performances at San Francisco´s Fillmore and it was filmedby Martin Scorsese´s crew in order to help plan out camera movesfor the following nights. Shot with a single camera and with(monaural) soundboard audio. The Fillmore is a big venue and is faraway from the atmosphere of the small clubs EC would end up playingon this tour, but EC is still far away from sounding tired ofperforming the same routine. He opens with Motherless Child and hisguitar improvisation grows during the show. Just listen to hisrenditions of old blues tunes like Malted Milk, How Long and ItHurts Me Too and although EC sings and plays his heart out in eachsong, especially from Third Degree and on wards. On his return tohis musical roots Mr Clapton played amazingly well all along thistour and we fans must be extremely happy that this tour was so welldocumented for posterity. The Fillmore Blues Night is anextraordinaire example of that and is a must have for anycollector.
