The officially licensed STAR WARS™ silver coin is dedicated to the deadly weapon of the Galactic Empire™ - the legendary Death Star™ DS-1. Struck from 3 ounces of 99.9% silver in proof quality, the coin features a detailed image of the Death Star™. The weight, fineness and copyright have been engraved along the bottom edge of the coin. The reverse shows the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination and the year of issue.

The Death Star™ DS-1 was a mobile battle station under the command of the Galactic Empire™ whose planning began before the outbreak of the Clone Wars. The firepower of its built-in superlaser was enough to destroy an entire planet in one fell swoop. Before the destruction of this first Death Star™ by the Rebel Alliance™, the planet Alderaan fell victim to it, with all its inhabitants. For the Empire, the Death Star™, with its massive military punch, was intended primarily as a deterrent, spreading paralyzing fear to ensure Emperor Palpatine's reign of terror.
