Tradera releases new version of Tradera API
We are proud to announce that Tradera is releasing a new version of Traderas API (application programming interface), which enables external applications and services to interact with the Tradera platform.
The API opens up opportunities for developers to build applications and services that communicate directly with Tradera.com, Sweden’s largest e-commerce marketplace.
The API offers unprecedented opportunities for you as a developer, affiliate or entrepreneur to build a new Tradera business or expand your current business, reach new customers, and create a potential new stream of revenue.
Background
Tradera is Sweden’s largest e-commerce marketplace with more than 1.8 million members. Our members collectively conclude hundreds of thousands of transactions per month. Tradera is wholly owned by eBay Inc., the world’s largest e-commerce company with more than 260 million users and a Gross Merchandis Volume of more than 59 billion US dollar.
eBay founded its Developer Program in 2000, and has since developed into one of the largest developer ecosystems for developers on the Internet. The ecosystem has built a large number of applications, services and businesses that employs hundreds of people. As an example of its impact, today more than 25 percent of eBay listings are created using external applications built on eBay API.

The Tradera API and Developer Program
The Tradera API was released in the beginning of 2008, and we are now glad to release an updated version. Developers can sign up to the developer program and get access to resources which will help you build eg. the following type of applications and services: · Seller tools. You can create programs that handle listing of items, payment flows, order handling and shipping.
· Search applications. You can develop web applications to showcase items currently selling on Tradera, to be placed eg. on your own web site, or in your blog. · Affiliate tools. You can develop tools to be used in your affiliate marketing and earn money by sending potential buyers to Tradera.com.
· Mobile applications. You can use the API to build mobile applications to access Tradera.com.
Tradera Developer Program is a long term commitment from Tradera, and we will continuously evolve the functionality of the API and the information and services that we provide to members of the program.
Our program and API is created based on the success of eBay’s API. We are striving to make our API as similar as possible to the eBay API, with the advantage that developers having developed tools or applications for either platform, should find it easy to port them to the other platform.
Technical overview
The Tradera Service API is built on ASP.NET 2.0 and divided into two parts: The Public Service and the Restricted Service. The Public Service contains methods that correspond to the information found on the Tradera.com site when you are not logged in, while the Restricted Service is used for actions that require user authorization, like adding an item, or getting the address of a buyer. All methods are available as SOAP calls and most are also available using regular GET/POST. See the API documentation for more information.
