Handling:

Hong Kong action junkies should flip for On the Run, a darker-than-dark noir thriller that mixes action, thrills, laughs, and pathos into one unbeatable cinematic ride! Yuen Biao stars as a downtrodden cop whose ex-wife is murdered. He was counting on his ex-wife for emigration to Canada, but now that she's dead, he's stuck in Hong Kong until 1997 and beyond. Angry, he plunges headfirst into an investigation, and discovers that the killer is another woman, a cool-as-ice hitwoman played with stoic screen charisma by Pat Ha. She was just doing her job, which is hardly reason to ignore her crime, but when the man who hired her is revealed, she may be worth more alive to than dead!
Director-actor Alfred Cheung helmed On the Run, which takes the popular "anything goes" aspect of eighties Hong Kong Cinema and runs wild with it. Sudden and brutal violence, hilariously dark humor, righteously cool characters, and a nihilism unseen in most American films makes On the Run an affecting, thrilling ride. Veteran martial artist Yuen Biao excels in a role far darker than his usual comic sidekick parts, but it's Pat Ha who runs this show with her quiet femininity and surprising, outrageously cool skills with a handgun!
