German black death metal act Eisregen’s2013 album Todestage contains the same horror-inspired splatterfilms influences in the lyrics like before. This album features adarker atmosphere all around, with the musicians prying the most oftheir instruments potentials by skirting the edges of extrememusicality. The band has brought in some folk influences such asthe violin, used in Waldgott. There are dynamics in influencesthroughout the album, from Blutkehle’s Black Metal vocals to theDeath Metal drums to violins. Todestage is heavy all around, andalthough Eisregen cannot be said to be the most innovative ofbands, the utter heaviness of Todestage should be enough to quellthe expectations of many Black / Death Metal fans.
