Legendary progressive metal act Fates Warning celebrated the30th anniversary of their third album, Awaken The Guardian, in2016. The album was to become their final release to featurevocalist John Arch. That era´s line-up was rounded out by bassistJoe DiBiase, drummer Steve Zimmerman, along with current guitaristFrank Aresti and, of course, Jim Matheos. Awaken The Guardian alsoholds the honour as the band´s very first release to debut on theBillboard charts. Awaken The Guardian remains an important albumfor the band´s fans worldwide. Decibel Magazine remarked in theirHall Of Fame no. 134 entry that "Each member still talks with greatpride of its creation, each blown away by the feedback it hasreceived since its release 30 years ago, each amazed at thepowerful and positive impact it has had on so many lives." Tocelebrate 30 years since the album´s release, Matheos reassembledthe Awaken The Guardian-era line-up for two special festivalappearances: Keep it True XIX in Lauda-Konigshofen, Germany andProg Power USA XVII in Atlanta, GA. John Arch comments about theexperience: "It was truly a surreal experience being able to sharethe spirit of `Awaken The Guardian´ at these shows. We would liketo take this opportunity to thank all the fans that have given backso much over the 30 year span since the album´s release. To all ourfamily and friends, much gratitude." Awaken The Guardian Liveconsists of the festival performances at Keep It True Festival,April 30th, 2016, Lauda-Königshofen, Germany in its entirety.
