Shaped picture disc with inlay. Limited 500 copies

The two tracks on this shaped picture disc was taken from DarkFuneral´s 2016 album Where Shadows Forever Reign. The A-side,Unchain My Heart, checks all the boxes for what you expect fromDark Funeral but also goes above and beyond by striking a beautifulbalance between 90´s-esque black metal and the more sophisticatedcompositions of later and more inspired artists. The song has amore mid-paced riffs here with clear rhythms and melodies. Theclear production also allows the riffs and song to breathe. Thesong actually builds atmosphere through the mid-paced chug, atleast initially before changing speed. There are still theunmistakable Dark Funeral sounds: dense and full, even lush attimes, but there is more space now. The new vocalist Heljarmadr´svocal phrasing and pacing is simply brilliant on this track. TheB-side As I Ascend is one of the slowest tracks on Where ShadowsForever Reign, relying more on methodic pounding and pummelingdouble bass than all-out mayhem. This track also feels that itcould have been placed on an older album because it´s in theGoddess Of Sodomy/Atrum Regina vein of being the token slowersong.
