Marduk’s 15th studio album, Memento Mori, is one of the moreinteresting albums the band havs released in some time. Marduk hasalways been at their best when they write their war metal hymns.But this one differs in many ways. Mortuus has written a lot of thelyrics and sometimes its a homeage to death, others shows religionsin a provocative way and others takes us down the road of Swedishhistory like the death of Gustav II. The other thing that feelsdifferent is the overall sound of the album. Were used to Morgan’sguitar playing but on this album its more in the background theband has chosed to put the drums and the bass more in theforefront. And in my opinion this creates a rich texture to thealbum and it makes Marduk sounding more fresh then they have donein some time.
