Rare one. Glass art object, mini vase, and ashtray with hand decoration in the engraving technique, designed by Tapio Wirkkala.

This handmade piece is signed by the author. The series was conceived in 1947, and its European premiere took place at the Milan Triennale in 1951, a prestigious design competition in Europe that marked a triumph for Wirkkala.

Wirkkala’s hand-engraved works with delicate lines in organic forms earned recognition at the Triennale, becoming among the first interior decor items in the new modernist style.

1954-1960. Iittala glassworks. The item is listed in the factory catalog as number 3132. Height 6,5 cm. It has very tiny scratch down inside, see last photo. Otherwise excellent vintage condition.
