Vintage full set of 6 dessert clear glass plates from one of the most iconic Minimalist design series Bölgeblick. Design by Aino Aalto.

The series Bölgeblick (Swedish for Wave glance) marked the beginning of contemporary tableware design. Created by one of the first female designers, Aino Aalto, for the Karhula glassworks in Finland, production began in 1932. Interesting that Aino's surname Aalto means Wave in Finnish.

The series is distinguished by its soft yet geometric contours and unique stepped forms that are distinctly atectonic.

In 1936 Bölgeblick was awarded the Gold Medal at the Milan Triennial, the most prestigious design exhibition of its time.

1940s-1950s. Karhula glassworks, Finland. Diameter 14 cm. Excellent vintage condition, slight traces of use.
