ABOUT THE SOFTWARE PROGRAM / OM PROGRAMMET

GEODe II is a highly interactive tutorial on CD-ROM that helps students review key geologic concepts through a variety of activities, including labeling diagrams, locating earthquake epicenters, identifying rocks and minerals. Animations and sound bring the excitement of geology to life. Suitable for review outside of class or for use in a lab setting.

Features and optional narration feature:

In keeping with current pedagogical research that shows that students learn more effectively if sound is employed, GEODe II features an optional narration feature. This feature can be easily turned off for use in public places/lab settings. Graphics and art work has been significantly improved throughout. Design has been improved to increase pedagogical efficacy. General update and revision of content to ensure current presentation. Photographic program has been expanded and upgraded.

GEODe II covers all the fundamental topics including: the rock cycle, hydrologic cycle, erosional forces, mountain building, plate tectonics, geologic time, deserts and winds, crustal deformation and Animation, interactive activities, and expanded text art reinforce key geologic concepts and processes within those topics that students may otherwise find difficult to visualize.

GEODe II encourages students to think like geologists—i.e. gather and analyze data, form their own conclusions, and put those conclusions to the test.
