170-year-old silver jar from 1855 with a beautifully hand-engraved lid in rich floral Victorian design. Weighing 100.5 grams.
This stunning piece is marked both on the lid and the bottom with the year letter A5 for 1855, featuring maker marks CC on the lid and PFP on the jar, as well as an additional PFP mark on the inner rim.
Both marked with the city mark & three crowns.
The jar could originally have been used for tobacco or small valuables. The inside has a lovely golden tone, and the surface shows very light age wear.
The silver still shines beautifully, and the engraving work is really impressive with magnificent attention to detail.
