Released on the 25th of january 2005. Despite its reputation as a polarizing album, worlds apart simply has too much good material to dismiss. This album is just as ambitious as ...And you will know us by the trail of deads breakthrough, source tags and codes, but more polished. This slicker production helps fuel claims that some of the bands more grandiose attempts seem artificial or insincere. Still, it is difficult not to end up drawn into this album, especially by the time the fantastic first half ends. Caterwaul through let it dive is an especially impressive run of songs which should win over most listeners still uncertain about the bands direction. While worlds apart might not reach the soaring heights originally sought after by the band, it can hardly be viewed as a failure since any attempt to replicate the sound of source tags and codes would be viewed as a retread and end up equally denounced.
