People's values often end up forming their lives or lifestyles. However, people's values are not always as coherent as the ideas of organizations or nations. As human beings we often have more or less contradictory values. Perhaps life is about how to handle these contradictory values? There is also strong evidence that the value of coherence is slowly decreasing. Younger generations seem to have fewer coherent values than older generations. People tend increasingly to hold different and even conflicting ideas and identities - readily swapping between them as required. We could even call that new human being a Homo Zappiens - i.e. one that zaps between values, identities and places.
