Original cabinet card photograph from the 1850s from Sweden.
Cabinet cards came later than business cards, are larger than these, and became
popular in the 1870s-1890s. The size of the card is about 165 x 110 mm and the
photographic image is approx. 140 x 105. They were made of the same photographic material as the
business cards but were often pressed to get a higher gloss. This method became
widespread, especially in the 1890s. They were also often subjected to heavy retouching
because the larger format was easier to work with.
Size : 16.5 cm x 11 cm
Date : 1850s
