Flight 19 was yet another of thosesmall-time acts who seems to be remembered by only the people whowere close to the members or in some cases people who managed tocatch them live. The band recorded three demos between 1982 and1985 but there are no signs of printed covers or pictures of thedemos so maybe the recorded material never was widely spread.Originally formed in 1982 as a 5 piece act in Halifax, WestYorkshire. The band didnt do the normal pub rounds because they hada bigger vision and wanted to perform bigger shows. At one point itseems to have paid off. The band made their live debut in theirhome town together with Satanic Rites, Rhabstallion and Cyka infront of 400 metal heads and then they landed a support slot opningup for Mamas Boys and Baby Tuckoo. In the spring of 1983, after thefirst demo had been recorded, the original singer Aussie left andthe band continued as a four piece. Two more demos were recordedbefore guitarist Phil Dawtrey left the band too and the remainingmembers continued for a number of years as a three piece beforecalling it a day. Since then guitarist Phil Dawtrey and vocalist,bass player Andy Smith have gotten back together jamming on someold tunes with a new drummer. This Anthology cd features all the 3studio sessions the band ever did as well as 4 live tracks recordedlive at Hoppers in Halifax on the 18th of January 1983. Fans ofmelodic NWOBHM and good old hard rock will have things to lovehere
