Originally formed way back in 1984under the name Imago (and later Executor), by 1991 Czech deathmetal band Tortharry had adopted their current title and has beenreleasing material ever since. The band hasnt really gained anyreal exposure outside their home country and the 2021 album, AltarsOf Ignorrance, is already their tenth full length. Its a strongalbum that paces between faster death metal with a bit of anold-school death/thrash influence and plenty of grooves that keepthe brutality at a high. The sound is familiar, but the songwritinghas a bit more technicality and unexpected transitions that makethis a worthy listen for fans of everything death metal. It alsoshows that the band has learned a lot during all these years andthey are a well-oiled machine, and they´re able to deliver anappropriately brutal and groovy take on death metal that finds abalance between the origins of the genre and mid-90s variants thatevolved out of it.
