Squealer is a band that has the effecton you that when you first hear an album from them you are notoverly impressed by what are presented but slowly and surely you itstarts to sink in and you seem to like it more and more. The fifthalbum ‘Under The Cross’ is certainly no exception to this facteither. It is not that the album is horrible the first time youlisten to it, far from it but it just has that feeling that youhave heard this before. The more you listen however the more itstarts to differentiate itself and the more it starts to draw youin. Squealer play melodic metal that can range from basic powermetal (Edguy, Helloween) to pure metal (Primal Fear, Judas Priest)and they throw in a few thrash elements here and there for flavor.Hell there is even a song that has a Goth kind of feel to it (FadeAway). At times the differing styles can just sound like they arenot sure which road they really want to take but at other times itall seems to come together. The vocals are not your basic highpitch that you would normally associate with this style of musicbut are at times a bit harsh and rough sounding.
