Desolation is a greek black/death metalact that was formed in Salamnia back in 1989. The band recorded a3-song tape in January 1990, with the intention of releasing it asa split album with Masacre on Unisound Records. However that splitnever happened and instead the three tracks ended up on a Germancompilation cd called Weird Tales Of Madness. Guitars and bass ontheese early recordings were handed by Necromayhem which were noneother than Sakis Tolis of the mighty Rotting Christ. However afterthis recording Sakis left to concentrate fully on Rotting Christ.These three tracks have now been released as a seperate mini albumto celebrate its 30th anniversary. The Empire Of The Damnedrecording will remind you of some of the first wave of black metalbands such as Venom and Bathory as well as early death metal actssuch as Possessed and Morbid Angel. Empire Of The Damned shows thatback in the late 80s the band were influenced but the current scenewhere death metal was evolving out of thrash metal and its veryclear that the band were going for quality rather thanquantity.
