Is there any other band, founded still under the old communistregime, which can say that their albums are released not only ascds but also on vinyls? Only thanks to Monster Nation records thereare two bands like this, Root and Torr. Bands, which are not onlyfamous in their home country of Czech Republic, but also abroad. Ifsomeone doubts, releasing a vinyl can be a proof. Torritorium isTorrs seventh album and while after the experimental period (albumsMorituri Te Salutant and Tanec Svateho Vita) Torr returned (withthe previous album Made In Hell) to the area where they always beenthe best: to the music called rock n roll black metal. To blackmetal in the initial meaning, inspired by Venom, and to therock´n´roll influenced by Motorhead. Mix this two bands 1:1, addsome raw lyrics (in Czech) and the result is Torr. The intro bringsa specific feeling and the first song is determined to be a hit,even the first listening makes this clear. Cert me vem is simply agreat and hellish fast opener. It is followed by modern riffs basedRevoluce Zla composed by the drummer Radek Sladky, the newest bandmember. The beginning and the end of the track Rezervace seems tobe influenced by Itsari of Sepultura. B-side opens with Zatracenejand Luza two hard and fast tracks. Exit Us is the last song and itsounds more modern than the rest (the third song written by Sladky– all the other songs were composed as always by Heres and lyricswritten by Henych). The last song can be perceived as a kind ofbonus, Kladivo na carodejnice in English (called MallevsMaleficarvm). The English versions are fine, of course, but Torrjust like V.A.R. are much more authentic when using their nativelanguage. To sum up, this album is simple and multifarious at thesame time, it combines their black thrash metal with rock´n´rolland it continues in the direction of Made In Hell. Torritorium isgenerally little slower, but still very hard one. This record willbe appreciated by orthodox old Torr fans, as well as by the youngermetal fans.
