While their countrymen were exploring Judas Priest-influencedSatanic heavy metal, Steel Angel were more interested in epic,NWOBHM-influenced power metal, with lyrics in English rather thanin their native tongue as was customary for the French acts of thetime. While the riff style could be thought of as influenced byHigh Power’s debut with some impressive John Arch-like vocals.Their strength was their traditional riffing coupled with an epicatmosphere, basically only created by the biggest Gods of the USscene. This ended up in cult songs like Warrior, a song, which isalmost indescribable in words for me. Unbelievably ingenious,intriguing, conjuring, epic! Already those gigantic solo is one ofthe best, I’ve ever heard! Or take the title track, totallybreathtaking… Midnight is a unique ballad, accompanied by a piano,minimalistic but still breathtaking. Judas (Angel Or Demon),Knights Of The War, The Law or Power And Action are altogethergreat songs of a brilliant band, full of passion and talent. Thisre-issue also features two unreleased songs from the 1984 demo. Beprepared for a shock if you haven’t listened to them as both SpreadYour Metal Wings and In The Temple Of Your Night are on par withthe very best tunes the band ever composed.
