Double album on black vinyls with gatefold cover

Not many bands deserve to be labeled legends, but Voivo aredefinitely one of those bands. The Canadian’s from Montreal neverhad their commercial breakthrough but influenced legions of metalbands with a sound that no band was ever able to copy. Voivod areone of the bands which both fans and musicians have great respectfor. Their 14th album, ‘Katorz’ was finished under tragiccircumstances: Piggy, legendary guitar player and founding memberdied of colon cancer in 2005 during the recording process. But itwas his wish that ‘Katorz’ would see the light of day. His guitarparts were already recorded on his laptop. So the album was mainlyput together around Piggys guitar parts. 3 years later, ‘Infini’ isreleased and features another share of his legacy. All originaldemo guitar tracks appear as they were recorded no re-amping, nooverdubs, just Piggy as he played the tracks he envisioned in hissmall apartment. Capturing his performance on the laptop given tohim by Jason Newsted. There were many discussions as to how tocomplete these recordings of songs that had never been actuallyperformed with the whole band. Away went into a studio in Montrealand tracked his drum parts, and Jason waited anxiously to get thetracks and add his bass which he recorded at Fantasy Studios in SanFrancisco, then Snake tracked his vocals afterwards. Jason mixedthe record in San Francisco over the holidays and ‘Infini’ wasborn. Truly a collaborative record that came together from a beliefthat these final Voivod songs deserved to be heard. According tointerviews with the band members, this is the final Voivodalbum.
