Roxx Gang were easily the most underrated, misunderstood band ofthe late 80’s and early 90’s. If ever there was a band that shouldhave attained superstardom it was Roxx Gang, Virgin Records firstAmerican hard rock signing. Unfairly lumped in with the whole hairband scene, Roxx Gang truly had the makings to become one ofAmerica ‘s greatest rock n’ roll bands. And for one gloriousmoment… they were. Their cult classic first album Things You’veNever Done Before was a rock n’ roll tour de force that had aboutas much in common with the L. A. hair wimps as a hungry shark doesto a bowl of goldfish. The idea to their 1998 album Mojo Gurusstarted some time earlier when the band did a birthday party showat the Voodoo Lounge. The band didnt want to do a normal Roxx Gangshow so they did some blues stuff and performed under the name ofMojo Gurus. The whole experience were so much fun that the bandstarted to expand and adding more bluesy stuff to their music. Sohere we have a voodoo blues vibe album with hints of Canned Headand The Yardbirds. Cinderella pulled it off with their HeartbreakStation album. Roxx Gang are doing the same thing. This is rock inits purest form and its all done with style. Give this severalspins as it will grow on you. Also features two acoustic Roxx Gangclassics as bonus.
