John Campbell was the influential editor of "Astounding Science Fiction" who mentored many of the genre's best writers, including Isaac Asimov. This collection of short stories, edited by Campbell, includes works by several of them: Eric Frank Russell, Jack Williamson, Theodore Sturgeon, T. L. Sherred, H. B. Fyfe and Murray Leinster. Sherred's "E For Effort" is long for a "short story - almost a novella - and was itself very influential. Every story is a gem.
