Theodor Fahrner Jewellery - Between Avant-garde and Tradition
Stunning Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and modern jewellery was manufactured by the firm of Theodor Fahrner for a hundred and twenty-five years (1855-1979.) Growing into a major producer of style-conscious jewellery, the company both led and was inspired by the major European art movements of Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Art Moderne, and Contemporary styles. This book is profusely colour-illustrated, documenting the designs and the people who made them. Working in silver, enamels, marcasites, iron, and semi-precious stones, the designers made each contemporary style of jewellery available to a wide segment of the population. From their workshops in Pforzheim, Germany, they exported large quantities to near and distant cities, including London and the U.S.A.
A detailed chronological study, the volume displays Fahrner jewellery through precise, original research and over 480 photographs, most in full colour. Sections include advertisements, original design sketches, all known marks, pictures of the important people, and, most of all, hundreds of pieces of jewellery.
Theodor Fahrner, jewellery manufacturer which enjoyed international repute. Innovative in its employment of outside designers. By 1900 the firm was receiving commissions to execute jewellery designs by members of the Darmstadt artists' colony such as Patriz Huber for the celebrated Darmstadt exhibition of 1901. Exported artist-designed pieces to London to be retailed by Liberty & Co.
Den inbundna boken (linneklotband) med förlagets dekorerade skyddsomslag är helt ny och i mycket nära nyskick. Det finns ett ringa slitage på omslagets övre kant och vid övre bokryggen en mindre reva som bokens nye ägare elegant kan snygga till med en bit tejp på baksidan. Boken är mycket rikligt illustrerad med fantastiska, ofta närgångna fotografier och reproduktioner i färg och svartvitt.
