The Apulian band LaCasta performs a mixof black metal and crust hardcore that materializes in a genrenicknamed blackened hardcore. Their self produced album Ecyclia wasreleased in December of 2015 and features six tracks. Encyclical isa circular letter sent by the Pope on doctrinal, moral and socialtopics to the bishops and, through them, to the faithful and istestified by the iconography of the Pope of the tarot on the cover.The circularity mentioned is found in the EP structure which ismarked by the presence of an intro and an outro. The EP proposes anessential production in which the voice fails to rise above theinstruments from which it is dominated and instead excessivelyemphasizes the instrumental aggressiveness and chaotic sonoritythat are typical aspects of the genre. Prodution wise we could haveasked for more but the band possesses skills and energies whichlead to a more than decent debut in the end.
