Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 1st Edition Shadows Over Bögenhafen

Shadows over Bögenhafen is one of the most iconic and legendary adventures for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 1st Edition (WFRP 1e)
It was originally published in 1987 by Games Workshop and forms the first real part of the epic The Enemy Within campaign, considered by many role-playing players to be one of the best campaigns ever.

The adventure pulls players away from traditional dungeon crawling and instead throws them into a dark, investigation-based narrative filled with political intrigue, corruption, and secret cultists.

The plot: The characters arrive in the trading town of Bögenhafen during the annual Schaffenfest (a large market). What starts as a hunt for a runaway manticore quickly develops into a deep investigation into the town's wealthy merchant families, who are covering up a demonic conspiracy.

The atmosphere: The adventure perfects the classic ”Grim & Perilous” atmosphere that WFRP is known for. The world feels dirty, dangerous, and marked by social inequality.

Gameplay style: Heavy focus on role-playing, investigating clues, timelines, and interacting with NPCs rather than pure combat.
