Beskrivelse
Antique Silver Manual-Winding Pocket Watch – 50 mm – 78 g – Early 20th Century – Running with Winding Fault
A substantial antique silver pocket watch dating from the first half of the 20th century, featuring a traditional open-face design, mechanical manual-winding movement and a classic white dial with bold black Arabic numerals.
The watch has a total weight of approximately 78 grams and a case diameter of approximately 50 mm, measured from left to right without including the crown. The silver case shows the natural patina, oxidation, scratches and surface wear expected from an antique pocket watch that has been used and stored over many decades.
The dial has a highly traditional early 20th-century appearance, with large black Arabic hour numerals, a detailed outer minute track and a subsidiary seconds dial positioned at 6 o’clock. Decorative hands and the large crown with suspension bow complete the classic gentleman’s pocket watch design.
The white dial shows visible age-related spotting, discoloration, marks and general wear. The silver case also displays tarnishing, scratches and signs of use. These imperfections are consistent with the age of the watch and contribute to its authentic antique character. Please inspect all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description.
The mechanical movement is capable of running and the watch starts working when gently shaken or moved. However, the winding mechanism is not functioning correctly. The crown and winding assembly do not wind the watch as intended, and the winding component can pull or pop out of position. The watch should therefore be considered mechanically defective and in need of repair or servicing despite the movement itself showing signs of operation.
This condition is specifically disclosed so that buyers understand that “working” in this instance means that the movement can run when activated by movement or shaking; it does not mean that the watch can currently be wound and operated normally through the crown. No guarantee is given regarding timekeeping accuracy, power reserve, reliability or continued operation.
Because of the winding fault, this antique mechanical pocket watch would be particularly suitable for a watchmaker, restoration enthusiast or collector looking for an original silver pocket watch restoration project. The fact that the movement still runs is encouraging, but professional servicing or repair of the winding and stem mechanism should be expected.
The combination of its substantial silver case, large 50 mm format, approximately 78 gram total weight, traditional Arabic numeral dial, subsidiary seconds display and mechanical movement gives the watch strong decorative and historical appeal. Antique silver pocket watches of this type are increasingly collected both as examples of traditional European horology and as attractive historical objects.
This vintage silver pocket watch would fit well within a collection of antique watches, mechanical pocket watches, silver timepieces, early 20th-century watches, manual-winding watches, gentleman’s pocket watches, horological antiques or restoration watches.
