ATP (Against The Plagues) is an extreme metal act based in Chicago, Illinois. The band was formed in 2005 and they released their debut album The Architecture Of Oppression on a small label in 2007. This debut was then remixed, fully remastered and new drums were recorded and added to give this debut a rebirth. The remixed and widely distributed album was then re-baptized Decoding The Mainframe. The band combines technical death metal with grand sounding cosmic keyboards and synthesizers that could have been culled from the early Limbonic Art albums. The vocals range from rasps to grunts and dramatic spoken passages. The frantic leads/solos by Lisicki are probably the best in the genre. Over the futuristic theme style, ATP displays unique flavors of sorts of speedy, morbid, even a bit of thrashy approaches on several occasions. Moreover, their looming keyboards upgraded their suspension and gave birth to new kind of fear, the ultramodern fear. This is definitely the record you need to hear this year.
