Crashdiet has almost become the band that never dies as theymanaged to pick up the pieces and returning everytime they getknocked down. Faced with more adversity than just about any othersleaze rock group that has emanated since the early 2000s,Crashdiet keep suffering setbacks and coming back stronger thanever. After releasing a stellar debut almost revolutionary album, Rest In Sleaze, Crashdïet were stopped dead in their trackswhen their founder and frontman Dave Lepard sadly took his own lifeat the age of 25 in 2006. Understandably the remaining Crashdïetmembers called it quits before deciding a few months later to forgeahead by keeping the bands legacy alive. Next up was Reckless Lovefrontman H. Olliver Twisted but after about a year and a half inmid-2008, the singer and the rest of the band agreed to go theirseparate ways. About a year later, former Jailbeat frontman SimonCruz was announced as Crashdïets new lead vocalist, which resultedin the sublime record Generation Wild. After another great releaseconsisting of The Savage Playground in 2013, Cruz decided to ratherunprofessionally take his ball home and leave without any noticewhile the band was on a mini-tour of Japan. Its tough enoughsurviving a change of lead vocalists once or even twice butsurviving a fourth change in lead vocalists could well be fatal forany other band. In fact, Cruzs departure from Crashdïet lookedlike it could have been that nail in the coffin as guitarist MartinSweet started a new project titled Sweet Creature and he alsolooked to be busy working as Sisters bassist. Manager Sven Morénsuggested that new lead vocalist Gabriel Keyes to get Crashdietback together. Rust is among the heaviest they have done and theband seem to have incorporated a lot of modern metal influenceswhile maintaining the killer melodies prevalent on previous albums.The results actually work quite well and this may just be the albumof the year.
