Obv: IMP C M CL TACITVS AVG, Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right.
Rev:
CLEMENTIA TEMP / XXI, Tacitus, holding eagle-tipped sceptre, and
Jupiter, holding sceptre and presenting globus, standing facing one
another; S between them.

A very attractive example of Tacitus’ brief reign, well-centered and struck on a round flan. The coin features beautifully preserved details, especially on the obverse portrait, which shows remarkable sharpness. Partial original silvering still visible, with a pleasant reddish-yellow patina adding visual appeal. Legends are mostly legible.

This coin represents an unlisted officina variant – the reverse includes the letter S, which is not recorded in RIC V.I 210 for this type from Antioch. An interesting and scarce variation for collectors of Tacitus or Antioch mint issues.

The coin was acquired from the legal European market.
