"Helm of Awe", vilket historiskt sett innebar att den som bar halsbandet (och därför bar dess symbol) var berömd och kraftfull nog att ingjuta rädsla. Det sägs att aegishjalmuren också användes för att avvärja onda andar och skydda mot mardrömmar.

"Helm of Awe", which historically meant that the wearer of the necklace (and therefore its symbol) was famous and powerful enough to instill fear. It is said that the aegishjalmur was also used to ward off evil spirits and protect against nightmares.
