Lampe made of Aluminium. Have a seal: "Made in Denmark". Tested in working condition. Comes with 13 watts lightbulb (equivalent to 100 watts old standard) .........................
This is a "HYGGE" lamp in scandinavian which means it creates a kind of catarsis feeling. It shines BEST in T O T A L Darkness ! The interior colors "come out" and shine over a white surface. Interesting effect ! Like watching the Stars at night.
Make your living room into a philosopher den or a kissing station in total darkness ;-))))))
In General...what to look after in a Lamp like this? ...A) The top and the bottom pieces are miniature metal parts and they must be present. Many have lost them or replaced with nuts. B) The Seal "Made in Denmark" must be present. Many dont have it meaning an early edition. But its nicer to have the seal.
Some of the most beloved lighting designs that Weisdorf put into production with Lyfa include the conch Hanging Lamp (1963). Because Weisdorf’s designs tended to involved intricate, overlapping layers of metal —an eye-catching composition for reducing glare—Lyfa sold his work as “prestige lighting.”
This is not “just”a lamp...this is a light “sculpture”...
Louis Weisdorf, born in 1939, is a well-known Danish architect and industrial designer who has made a clear mark in his field. In 1954, he was one of the youngest ever to graduate from the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. Weisdorf worked for Tivoli in Copenhagen for 10 years as an assistant to chief architect Simon P. Henningsen, and it was here that he designed the Konkylie lamp, which opened his eyes to lighting design. The lamp design in the early edition of this series hung in the trees in Tivoli Gardens...
In 1967, Weisdorf opened his own architectural firm in Copenhagen, where he shared premises with Ole Panton (Verner Panton's brother), and he undertook assignments for both national and international clients, including a close collaboration with both Verner Panton and Poul Henningsen. He continued to explore uniform slats and their ability to guide light and created e.g. Turbo Pendel, which won the iF Design Award. He was fascinated by the simple design principle with the repetitive shape of the slats, which gave such great flexibility in appearance and at the same time protected against glare from all angles.

--Sydney J. Harris
"Ever since we crawled out of the primor dial slime, that's been our unnifying cry, "More Light". Sunlight, torchlight. Candle Light. Neon, incandescent lights that banish the darkness from our caves to iluminate our roads, the inside of our refrigerators. Little tiny flashlights for those books we read under the covers when we are supposed to be asleep. Light is more than watts and footcandles. Light is metaphor. Light is knowledge. Light is life. Light is Light".
-Diane Frolov & Andrew Schneider
"You can't study the darkness by flooding it with light".
-Edward Abbey
"The factory that produces the most important product is the home".
-Carol Williams
"Emergencies have allways been necesary to progress. It was darkness that produced the lamp. It was fog that produced the compass. It was hunger that drove us to exploration".
