This early model is crafted from robust, densely woven 26-ounce Mackinaw wool sourced from Pendleton Mills, Oregon — far heavier and more durable than the modern 24-oz Mexican-milled fabric used in today’s production (“Made in USA from imported materials”).

This version has a much denser weave than the newer Mackinaws, resulting in significantly improved wind and rain resistance. The tightly woven virgin wool offers superior weather protection and durability compared to recent productions.

Both the front and back panels are double-layered, providing outstanding warmth, wind resistance, and durability — the kind of construction that made Filson legendary among loggers, trappers, and outdoorsmen.
