Mark A.Z. Dippé directs this superhero action horror based on Todd McFarlane's comic book. CIA Black Ops soldier Al Simmons (Michael Jai White) is killed by his corrupt boss Jason Wynn (Martin Sheen) and sent to Hell. Making a deal with the devil Malebolgia, Simmons returns to Earth as a Hellspawn — a soldier for Hell — with supernatural powers. Using his new abilities, he seeks revenge on Wynn while being manipulated by the evil Clown/Violator (John Leguizamo) and pursued by Cogliostro (Nicol Williamson), a former Hellspawn who tries to guide him toward good.
