Connectix Maxima was a RAM disk utility for Classic Mac OS that allowed users to create a disk in their computer's RAM, dramatically increasing performance by making data access much faster than a hard drive. It was notable for its ability to save the contents of the RAM disk before and after reboots and for allowing a user to boot directly from the RAM disk. This utility offered significant speed benefits, especially for developers who compiled code.

Key features of Connectix Maxima

RAM disk: Created a virtual hard disk in the computer's physical RAM, resulting in much faster read and write speeds.

Bootable RAM disk: Allowed users to boot their Mac from the RAM disk for lightning-fast restarts.
