The Brazilian born composer Emanuel Dimas De Melo Pimenta, whonow live is Lisbon, Portugal, has an unique style and denseweavings of sound is evident in each composition here; repeatedlistenings will reveal new layers of sound. Pimenta composedexperimental electronic music as graphic scores with the aid ofcomputers and random generators. The sources for the works arenatural sounds: metallic objects ringing in Rings, the voice ofCaruso in Rozart, a collection of short-wave radio transmissionsfrom all over the world to South America in Short Waves 1985. DavidTudor and John Cage was very impressed by Pimenta's compositionsand sound, commissioning him to score dances for the MerceCunningham Dance Company where he started as a composer in1986.
