Was an American country musician, singer, and songwriter. He achieved international fame for a long list of hit records, and is well known for his distinctive voice and phrasing. For the last two decades of his life, Jones is frequently referred to as "the greatest country singer".
"My Favorites of Hank Williams" (original released 1962) is a critically well-regarded tribute album that showcases Jones moving beyond simple mimicry of his idol to invest Hank Williams's songs with his own distinctive vocal style, "affection and grit".
