Pentagram, from Arlington, Virginia, Usa, is one of the earliestdoom bands around. Having been around in one form or another since1971, it’s safe to say that Pentagram had a big impact on Sabbathinspired Doom Metal that was to follow over the next decade. Theband also strongly intertwines with the band Bedemon and issometimes seen as one and the same. Pentagram are considered to beone of the all time classics by many older fans for understandablereasons. Their music can perhaps best be described as proto-doomwith a strong resemblance to the first Black Sabbath releases. Theunique vocals of Bobby Leibling make sure they have a very uniquesound. The band’s ’70s output was sparse (only a few 7? EPs) butnow considered by many fans to be legendary and Liebling, who atthe time handled the bulk of the songwriting, had a large number ofsongs that went unrecorded or released at the time. The album, IfThe Winds Would Change, is a rare album that collects rarerecordings from those early days of the band.
