Muchos de los gigantes del rock de los años 70 tuvieron problemas para adaptarse a los 80, pero Bob Seger fue uno de los pocos rockeros clásicos que no tuvieron dificultades para hacer la transición. Al pulir su sonido crudo y rockero mientras se mantenía cerca de su tema lírico, Seger mantuvo su enorme base de fans y también ganó muchos nuevos fans, especialmente con su lanzamiento de 1986, LIKE A ROCK.
