Caye Casas directs this relentlessly uncomfortable Spanish dark comedy horror. Jesus (David Pareja) insists on buying an expensive, garish coffee table despite his wife Maria's (Estefanía de los Santos) strong objections. When a horrific accident occurs involving the couple's newborn baby, Jesus is left trying to conceal the truth from Maria as guests arrive and the tension builds to an unbearable degree. A film that explores toxic masculinity, domestic power struggles and unimaginable grief through the lens of sustained, almost unwatchable black comedy. Not for the faint-hearted.
