WWII-Era Russian Prison Jacket “Telogreika” — Issued to German POWs
This is an authentic Russian Telogreika — the iconic quilted winter jacket produced for German prisoners of war held in Soviet camps during and after the Second World War. Made from heavy herringbone cotton and filled with thick insulation, it reflects the severe functionality of Soviet design and the harsh realities of wartime captivity.
Unlike the standard Red Army Telogreikas in khaki or olive tones, this version was made in a muted grey specifically for prisoners. The piece features vertical quilting, a two-button rear adjustment tab, and the distinctive straight-cut silhouette used in mid-1940s Soviet textile production.
After the war, many German and Dutch POWs were kept in Soviet camps for years, often returning home still wearing these same jackets — symbols of survival and endurance in the aftermath of conflict.
Details:
• Authentic Russian Telogreika prisoner jacket (no trousers)
• Issued to German and Axis POWs, circa 1944–1948
• Material: heavy cotton with herringbone weave, padded interior
• heavily faded grey
• Features: rear two-button adjustment tab, vertical quilting, reinforced collar
• No visible interior stamps remain, though one likely existed but has faded or washed out over time.
• Fits perfectly on 180cm / 73kg
A hauntingly genuine artifact from the Eastern Front — austere, durable, and historically significant. This jacket embodies the unembellished utilitarianism of wartime Soviet craftsmanship and remains a rare survivor of a turbulent era, ideal for collectors of WWII militaria or those drawn to authentic material history.
Note: the color is quite faded. If you’re looking for a jacket in beautiful condition, this one may not be suitable.
