Vintage Woods “Neva-Illet” Mackinaw Jacket – Pure Wool – Canada – Circa 1930s

A rare early-20th-century Canadian mackinaw, produced by Woods Manufacturing Co. Ltd., Ottawa and built from Humphrey Pure Wool Cloth of New Brunswick. Both companies were major suppliers to hunters, lumbermen, survey crews, and government expeditions during the interwar period, and this combination of labels is typically associated with 1930s–early 1940s production.

The jacket features the iconic red-and-black buffalo check, executed in dense pure wool with Woods’ proprietary “Neva-wet” processing—an early water-repellent treatment developed long before modern synthetics. Jackets bearing this mark belong to Woods’ higher-grade outdoor line.

• Beautiful multi-pleated action back—a hallmark of 1930s tailoring, designed for free movement while chopping wood or handling tools.
• Early plastic/bakelite-style buttons consistent with the period.
