Marc Newson, CBE, has been described as one of the most influential designers of his generation. He has worked across a wide range of disciplines, and his clients include top fashion and luxury brands.

Born in Sydney, Australia, Newson graduated from The University of Sydney in 1986.

The Hercules hanger utilised the innovative process of gas-injection moulding, in which gas is injected into the plastic as part of the moulding process, creating a hollow core and allowing for the finished object to be created in one piece.
