Beschrijving
Oil painting on cardboard attributed to Sverre Holmsen (1906-1992), a Swedish writer who lived in Tahiti for several years in the late 1920s and early 1930s. The back shows "VARUA TAHITI" (meaning "Spirit of Tahiti" in Tahitian) and is signed "Sverre Holmsen." It is in good condition. International shipping available.
Holmsen was primarily recognized as a writer, he was also active in painting, particularly inspired by his years in Polynesia. The presence of his signature on the front and the title inscription on the reverse, combined with provenance linking the painting to Estonia via the Sigtuna–Rakvere sister city aid program, adds a layer of historical and cultural interest.
