Bob Dorough, ah, he's a bit of a legend. Possibly ingrained inthe collective memories of everyone who was a fan of SchoolhouseRock (and it's magnificent and catchy soundtrack), the manintroduced jazz to a lot of impressionable young ones. So therelease of The Devil's Best Tunes : The Beatnik Scat Of Bob Doroughis like catching up with an old friend and finding out that youmight have drifted apart, but you still cherish those moments askids. You can't help but smile and feel like bobbing your head withthis album. 'Old Devil Moon' has that staple of jazz: a veryplayful (and technically wonderful) bass. It's a great way to openthe shop, continuing the tradition with tracks like 'Dog' and theclassy 'Devil May Care'. The Devil's Best Tunes... is a veryenjoyable, peppy selection of jazz tunes that will have youreaching for a couple of Hurricanes, donning a Fedora and perhapssolve a few mysteries, like why The Clangers put up with the SoupDragon instead of starting their own jazz band
